On August 30th, the tank brand brought its gasoline version, tank 500 Hi4-T Darth Vader and tank 700 Hi4-T to Chengdu Auto Show. At the Chengdu Auto Show four years ago, the tank made its debut; Four years later, the tank brand has 500,000 users, successfully activated the off-road market in China, and increased the market share of autonomous off-road to 83.1% with a market share of over 50%.
The gasoline version of Tank 400, which was unveiled at this year’s Chengdu Auto Show, is equipped with a brand-new 2.0T Miller cycle engine and the first domestic self-developed 9AT longitudinal transmission, which ensures the climbing ability and stability during off-road. The climbing ratio is as high as 57.24, and the minimum speed is 2.7km/h and the maximum torque output is 11000N·m, showing the low-speed and high-torque power characteristics required for extreme off-road.
At this time, the launch of pure fuel vehicles is not against the trend when the market share of new energy is 50%, but with a global perspective, it creates momentum for off-road in China and brings a more universal engine-driven version to China and regions with imperfect charging facilities around the world. In the future, the gasoline version of Tank 400 will be sold simultaneously in domestic and Eurasian markets.
This is also the technical value moat of Great Wall Motor with full power layout. In terms of power forms, tank brands have full power forms such as ICE, HEV and PHEV, and have various engine layouts such as 2.0T, 2.4T and 3.0T, as well as new energy power systems of 2.0th4-t and 3.0T Hi4-T, which meet the needs of different users around the world.
It is reported that the tank has specially set up an engineer R&D team for off-road use scenarios, formulated global calibration standards and established an off-road scene database. Up to now, Great Wall Motor has an R&D team of over 17,000 people, and has built six international laboratories around the world, with 11 world-leading test verification capabilities, and the R&D system is spread across seven countries and ten places.
For example, in terms of calibration, tank brands verify professional off-road in a harsh global environment. Every tank product has to undergo more than 3,000 rigorous tests in the past two years from research and development to listing. In Europe and Asia, where the temperature is-35 C, tanks are required to hold both fuel and Hi4-T models. In the Middle East, where the temperature is 50°C, tanks have to climb 120km/h on 16% ramps.
Hi4-T Darth Vader also appeared together. It is a highly customized and officially modified personality representative in the tank 500 series. With a brand-new blackening kit and deep black as the language, it combines introverted and profound, low-key and extraordinary with the current aesthetic trend and sports style, making it more personalized and fashionable.
Gu Yukun, executive deputy general manager of the tank brand, said, "Behind the sales volume of 500,000 is the tank’s persistence and love for technology, the courage to break the monopoly of high-end off-road, large displacement and multi-gear overseas technology, and the confidence of the Great Wall category innovation." To this end, Tanks released a brand night co-creation plan, which will create a brand night activity with time, place, personnel, guests and activities completely created by users.
In just four years, the tank brand entered the market with a new category, which not only firmly occupied a place in the market segment of hard+high-end luxury off-road SUV, but also led a group of independent brands to attack and expand overseas markets, and achieved great success. This requires not only practical and rigorous technology research and development, but also the courage to innovate and explore.
