How to eat healthier? Nutrition and health big data is coming.

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 25th (Reporter Xu Penghang) On February 25th, the Scientific Research Report on Dietary Guidelines for China Residents (2021) compiled by China Nutrition Society was officially released. The report shows that dietary imbalance is the main risk factor for chronic diseases. Among them, high sodium intake accounted for the first place (17.3%) in the death of cardiovascular metabolic diseases caused by dietary factors in adults, followed by insufficient fruit intake (11.5%) and aquatic products Ω Insufficient intake of -3 fatty acids (9.7%).

At the press conference, Ding Gangqiang, vice chairman of China Nutrition Society and director of Institute of Nutrition and Health of China CDC, made a detailed interpretation of the main contents of the report. He said that the research shows that the nutritional status and physique of Chinese residents have improved significantly, the dietary quality has improved, the food structure has changed, the height of residents has continued to improve, and the nutritional deficiency of residents has been fundamentally improved. The growth retardation rate and low weight rate of children under 5 years old have dropped to 4.8% and 1.9% respectively.

However, high salt intake is still widespread. The average intake of cooking salt in China is 9.3 grams per person per day, which drops by 2 grams every ten years, but it is still higher than the recommended value of < 5 grams. In addition, the consumption of sugary drinks is increasing year by year, and high sugar intake has become the main risk factor of obesity and diabetes in adolescents.

Dietary imbalance is also endangering the health of Chinese residents. Ding Gangqiang said that only about 20% of adults consume more than 50 grams of whole grains and miscellaneous grains on average every day; Less than one-third of adults consume more than 40 grams of fish and shrimp every day on average; About 40% adults don’t eat soy products very often.

In addition, the decrease of activity is also the main risk factor for the continuous increase of overweight and obesity rate. Adults lack regular independent exercise, and their sitting time increases, with an average leisure screen time of about 3 hours per day.

In this regard, Ding Gangqiang suggested that it is healthy to eat a balanced diet, reduce the intake of livestock meat, smoked meat, salt, oil, added sugar and alcohol, and increase the intake of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, eggs, seafood, milk, beans and nuts.

Yang Yuexin, chairman of China Nutrition Society, said that the report collected and analyzed the new evidence of diet and health research, and analyzed the current situation and problems of Chinese residents’ diet and nutrition health, which provided a strong scientific basis for revising the Dietary Guidelines for China residents.

The reporter learned that the report released this time is an abridged version of the Scientific Research Report on Dietary Guidelines for Residents in China (2021), which can be inquired and read in the official website of official website, China Nutrition Society. The original will be published by People’s Health Publishing House in the near future.
