　　Engine oil is also called lubricating oil. If the engine is compared to the heart of a car, engine oil is the blood of the car. Its main functions are lubrication impairment, cleaning, sealing and leakage prevention, rust prevention and corrosion prevention, cooling and damping.

　　At present, the market can be simply divided into mineral oil and synthetic oil according to the different base oils. Synthetic oil can be subdivided into semi-synthetic oil and fully synthetic oil. Mineral oil has the lowest price and the worst performance; Fully synthetic oil has the highest price and the best performance. Theoretically, all vehicles are suitable for fully synthetic oil, but considering the cost of vehicles and the use environment, it is generally recommended that:

　　1. Cars or SUVs with a price of more than 200,000 yuan use fully synthetic oil. Because of its excellent aging resistance, the oil change cycle can be extended to 10,000 kilometers.

　　2. Family cars with a price of 100,000-200,000 yuan are usually used for commuting, using semi-synthetic oil, and the oil change cycle is generally 7,500 kilometers.

　　When you get a bucket of engine oil, look at the lower right corner of the bottle. This "5W-40" is the SAE label, which indicates the viscosity grade of the engine oil. Among them, "W" is the abbreviation of winter, and the number in front of W represents the fluidity of engine oil at low temperature. The smaller this number is, the better the fluidity of engine oil at low temperature, and the better the protection of engine when the vehicle is cold started. Generally speaking, there are four grades of engine oil, namely, 0w, 5w, 10w and 15w, which respectively indicate the minimum working temperature of -35℃, -30℃, -25℃ and -20℃. In other words, if you live in the northeast, choose 0w engine oil to meet your winter use. If you are in Beijing, 5w or 10w engine oil can meet your needs. In addition, the low-temperature viscosity grade is only needed for northerners to buy engine oil, but it is generally not considered in southern cities.

　　40 in "5W-40" indicates the high temperature viscosity grade of engine oil. Generally speaking, there are four high-temperature viscosity grades of engine oil: 20, 30, 40 and 60. The higher the high-temperature viscosity grade, the more viscous the engine oil will be, and the better the engine protection will be when it works at high temperature.
